Department at a Glance

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1997 with an Undergraduate programme in Chemical Engineering. The Chemical Engineering Department is one of the premier engineering departments of Institute of Technology, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya. Presently, the department is gifted with young, dynamic and vibrant faculty well qualified to impart high quality teaching in leading areas of Chemical Engineering. Department has well equipped undergraduate laboratories such as Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer, Reaction Engineering, Process Dynamics & Control, Mechanical Operation, Fluid Mechanics, CAD-Lab. The Department has got AICTE approval in 2010-11 for introduction of M.Tech. in Chemical Engg.

The department has implemented AICTE project worth of Rs 14 Lakhs under Prof. (Dr.) S.N. Saha as the chief co-ordinator. Presently another AICTE project worth Rs. 12 lakhs is undergoing under Prof. S.N. Saha. Rs. 15 lakhs UGC major research project grant has been just sanctioned under Prof. S.N. Saha as the principal investigator. The department has organized AICTE sponsored National seminar, workshop and UGC Short Term Course. Prof S.N. Saha, HOD has authored three books, titled 'Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering', 'Fuel Combustion Energy Technology' and 'Chemical Process Engineering Calculations', prescribed as text books in various Universities of India. The department is being led by Prof. S. N. Saha, worked as Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Dean, School of Studies, Engg. & Technology, GGV, Bilaspur since 2004 till 03rd May 2012. Prof. Saha has worked as the Director, Institute of Technology, Guru Ghasidas University from 01/07/03 to 10/11/09.
