Department at a Glance

Department of Pure & Applied Physics was established in the year 1995 is one of the premier departments of the University. It has been actively engaged in teaching & research since its inception and has active collaboration with many leading Indian and foreign laboratories. During its 14 years of existence, it has slowly established it self as a well known UG / PG teaching / research center in the region. The department provides opportunity for the students to interact with faculty through weekly seminars, organizing lecture of visiting experts and providing information about research areas. It also guides students for higher learning opportunity in and out side the country.

Many prestigious national level symposium, conferences / seminars are regularly organized by the department. We have been able to successfully collaborate with number of organization / national institute that provide much needed exposure to over students. A number of sponsored project from national agencies are successfully completed by us and two such project are currently running. Faculty and students of the department have been published more than 350 research papers in national / international journals during last 14 years and delivered invited lecturer in prestigious international conferences. The department is also providing PG level computer application training that gives much needed exposure to our students through the Nodal computer center established by UGC.

Our students are invariably getting good placement. Many of our students have qualified national competitive examinations such as NET, GATE and JEST. Two of our research students have received exchange fellowship in South Korea and one has joined research associate-ship at IIT Khargpur. Some of M. Sc. Student has received Junior Research Fellowships at ISRO and IIT Khargpur respectively.

Instrumentation maintenance facility sanctioned by UGC is being setup in the department. Overall department is providing quality UG / PG education in both physics and electronics and has very congenial atmosphere for research.

We have highly qualified and experience faculty. Apart from regular faculty, 07 newly appointed temporary lecturers contribute towards the regular teaching in the department.

Much is to be achieved in near future and with the endeavor of our Vice-chancellor, the Department of Pure & Applied physics is bound to become a center of excellence in the field of research and teaching.
