The Department of Forestry was
established in the year 1989. It is dedicated for promoting
excellence in post-graduate education & research in Forestry &
allied subjects, keeping in view the need for trained man
power in the country to maintain ecological balance. The
syllabi include study of all segments of forestry, wild life,
environmental science with a view to provide the students with
knowledge and skills that are at par with the best any where.
The department organizes lectures by eminent persons besides
workshops, seminars, symposium, conferences in the filed of
forestry. Excursions to plantation areas, natural forest and
forest nurseries are the regular features in the curriculum to
make the subject better under stood.The Department is actively
engaged in research and extension programmes through a number
of research/ developmental projects sanctioned by various
Government agencies. The Department has a good liaison with
local forest department, forest based industries, research
institutions, NGO's and the Council of Forestry Research &
Education to provide better exposure of the practical/ field
operations in forestry and also to facilitate the new vistas
for training and placement of students. A large number of
alumni are working with reputed business & other organizations
in India & abroad. ‘‘ B.Sc. Forestry” Program is being started
with the central objective to provide a bigger catchment
and platform for juvenile science and agriculture students to
choose a professional degree for the forestry sector. This
course will impart knowledge in conceptual, technical and
human relations for managing business in forestry sector
