About us
Four years Degree Program in Civil Engineering program was started in the year 2008 under the department, with due approval from AICTE with annual intake of 40 seats. The department's primary goal is to focus on imparting the best possible exposure to various fields in civil engineering. The department is committed, for establishing well equipped laboratories, with all the modern amenities & excellent setup. As per AICTE norms, well qualified & experienced faculties are to be multiplied very soon in the department. Academicians from premier institutions & field engineers are to be frequently invited in the department, to interact with students & faculty for regular update with the latest global development. Department will also be engaged in organizing co-curricular activities like seminars, expert talk, aptitude test, quiz, field visits, career counseling etc. in order to provide & develop inter personal skills of the students.

Mission of the Department
1. To produce technically sound engineers capable to handle the challenges in Civil
Engineering field, by imparting outcome based education, industry oriented training and
by inculcating professional ethics.
2. To serve as a trustworthy and indigenous professional centre for the society through
consultancy services and continuing education programs in Civil Engineering field.
3. To maintain the global standards in teaching, learning & research and to promote the
collaborative research with Institutions and Industry of repute at National and International
level.
Achievements
Achievements of the Faculty:
1. The Department of Civil Engineering has been appointed as State Technical Agency (STA),Chhattisgarh State, for PMGSY projects on 21.05.2025.
2. Faculty members of the Department has published 62 Publications including 38 Journal Articles, 16 Book chapters, 04 Confrence Papers ,03 Authored Books & 02 Patents in 2024-25.
3. Department Have generated an Revenue of Rs.9.8 Lakhs from consultancy work in Last 2 Years.
4. Prof. Shailendra Kumar has published a book “Particle Packing Method for Recycled Aggregate Concrete”, Springer.
5. Dr. Balbir Kumar Pandey Joined as an Editorial Team Member in the Journal “Scientific Reports” published by Nature.
6. Dr. Kundan Meshram has published a book “Urban Transportation Systems: Sustainability and Future Development”, Wiley and Scrivener Publishing, USA. ISBN 9781394228249.
7.Dr. Umank Mishra has granted two international patents entitled “Smart Groundwater Monitoring System with Real-Time Analytics and DNN-based Predictive Capabilities” and “Small-Scale Economical Aquaponic Setup suitable for Domestic Use.”
8. Dr Adheesh Kumar Vivek Recieved Best paper Award-2023 for the paper " Stratigies to mitigate safety and associated problems at gated rail road grade crossings: A structural equation modelling approach" at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur (C.G).
9. Dr Kundan Meshram Recieved Best paper Award-2023 for the paper " Environmental impact assessment of lithium ion battery employing cradle to grave" at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur (C.G).
Achievements of the Students:
1. 11 students got qualified in GATE-2025.
2. 09 B.Tech. students got placement in Jhajharia Nirman Limited & 5 students got placement in Simplex Infrastructure Pvt.Ltd in 2024-25.
3. Mr Amit Kumar, M.Tech.,II year 2024-25, recieved best presentation award for the reseach work " Evaluating the feasibilty of utilizing glass powder as a partial substitute for the fine aggrgeate in concrete." at the international concfrence on innovation and sustainability in Civil Engineering (ISCESTI,2025), Organized by NIT, Patna, may 14-16,2025.
4. Ms. Ayushi Shraff, B.Tech.,III year, 2024-25, recieved best paper award for the reseach work "Compressive strength prediction of geopolymer concrete using artificial neural network and k- Nearest neighbors: a comparative study of different Algorithms" at the international concfrence on innovation and sustainability in Civil Engineering (ISCESTI,2025), Organized by NIT, Patna, may 14-16,2025.
Future Plans
1. To Develop the Department as Centre of Excellence in the central region.
2. To get NBA accreditation for the Department.
3. The Department will collaborate with premier National & International institutions, reputed laboratories and Industries (like L&T, HCC, NTPC etc.) to impart internship, placement, and research opportunities.
4. More Local/Student chapters of the professional bodies shall be opened viz Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) etc.
