Building upon the strong foundation of research excellence established between 2016 and 2023, the Department of Information Technology at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), Bilaspur, envisions a dynamic and strategic roadmap for future growth. Recognizing the importance of sustained innovation and academic impact, the department aims to enhance its research, academic, and industry engagement through the following targeted initiatives:

1. Research Expansion and Specialization

• Establishment of Research Clusters: Form thematic research groups focusing on frontier areas like Quantum Computing, AI & Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, IoT and Edge Computing, and Data Science.

• Target High-Impact Publications: Aim for 100+ publications annually in Q1/Q2 SCI and Scopus-indexed journals to improve the department’s global visibility.

• Interdisciplinary Research Promotion: Foster collaborations with departments such as Electronics, Management, and Applied Sciences to address complex real-world problems.

2. Innovation and Intellectual Property

• Patent Acceleration Program: Expand the current momentum in intellectual property by targeting 20+ patents annually, with at least 5 commercialized or licensed technologies by 2027.

• Innovation Lab Establishment: Create an IDEA (Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship & Application) Lab to support faculty and student startups and research prototypes.

3. Funding and Collaboration

• National and International Projects: Proactively apply for funded projects under DST, DRDO, AICTE, SERB, and international agencies such as Erasmus+, Newton-Bhabha, etc.

• Industry Tie-Ups: Establish MoUs with IT industries and research labs to support internships, sponsored research, and collaborative projects.

• Centre of Excellence (CoE): Set up CoEs in AI & Smart Systems and Cybersecurity & Blockchain to serve as knowledge hubs for faculty development and student training.
