About Veer Savarkar Boy's Hostel
The Vir Savarkar Boys Hostel, newly established at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (A Central University), Bilaspur, is a modern residential facility committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and intellectually stimulating environment to male students of the university. Named after Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the eminent freedom fighter, thinker, and writer, the hostel pays tribute to his ideals of self-reliance, discipline, and academic pursuit.
This G+3 (Ground plus Three Floors) hostel complex has been constructed with a vision to offer well-equipped, inclusive, and student-friendly accommodation for approximately 200 male students enrolled in full-time programs of the university.

The hostel seeks to foster a balanced environment where students can excel academically while developing socially, culturally, and morally. It encourages a spirit of community living, cooperation, and responsible citizenship, aligned with the ideals of its namesake.

- Divyang-Friendly Rooms: Accessible rooms on the ground floor with barrier-free access and custom furniture.
- Library/Reading Room: Quiet space with books, newspapers, and journals.
- TV Room: Common lounge with LED television.
- Indoor Games Room: Table tennis, chess, carrom, and more.

Admission and Allotment
Hostel allotment is merit-based and guided by university policy. Preference is given to outstation students and those with special needs. Rules and criteria are defined by the Hostel Board.

Cultural and Awareness Activities
1. Weekly Bhajan Sandhya (Every Tuesday Evening)
Organized in the common hall to promote inner peace and community bonding through devotional singing and spiritual traditions.
2. Celebration of Saraswati Puja
Held on Vasant Panchami, with puja, cultural activities, prasad distribution, and cleanliness drive, reinforcing values and unity.
3. Cyber Security and Crime Awareness Program
Held on 28 March 2025 to educate students on cybercrime and digital safety. The event was conducted under the supervision of the Chief Warden with lectures by:
- Dr. Navjot Kaur, Associate Professor, Department of Forensic Science
- Dr. Nidhi Sandal, Associate Professor, Department of Law
Topics included cyber threats, IT Act protections, and safety practices, followed by an interactive Q&A session.
