About Computer Center

The Computer Center of the G G University was established in 1990 and has remained an advanced, state-of-the-art facility since its inception. It is equipped with the latest versions of hardware and software, and serves as a central facility supporting teaching, research, administration, examination, finance, and other vital university functions.

The center features more than 50 terminals (Intel Core i5 PCs) running Windows operating systems, and is surrounded by a beautiful green boundary of trees. A sufficient number of peripherals—such as printers, switches, and multimedia devices—support the user terminals. Standard software packages for office automation, programming, and computation are installed to assist students, faculty, and researchers.

The Centre initially operated with VSAT (@256 Kbps Broadband) connectivity under the UGC INFONET Scheme. It now runs on high-speed broadband connectivity via NKN, enabling participation in national and international lectures through live streaming and interaction.

Internet access is provided to all teachers, students, research scholars, and administrative staff across the University.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) conducts practical sessions in the Centre for students of Ph.D., MCA, B.Sc. Computer Science, and M.Sc. Computer Science. The Centre also offers short-term courses to improve computer literacy among students and university staff.

Additionally, the Centre assists university departments in computerizing tasks and provides practical training to students and employees.

The Computer Centre maintains the University’s website, www.ggu.ac.in, with hosting support from the National Informatics Center (NIC). The site contains over 500 web pages and offers comprehensive information on courses, admissions, activities, and exam results. It benefits not only the university community but also external stakeholders.

The Computer Centre operates for eight hours daily, and students frequently visit to carry out computing and internet-related tasks.

The Centre organized a major workshop for university teachers and employees from 07–10 February 2010, covering hardware, software, and networking. It also held a website design and development course for students, with participation from more than 700 students.
